Google Permissions Explained
What permissions does SheetEngine request?
When you sign in, SheetEngine requests a limited set of Google permissions. You'll see exactly what's being requested on Google's consent screen before you approve.
SheetEngine can:
- Create and access spreadsheets you've selected or that the app created. It cannot see or access other files in your Google Drive.
- Read and write script code in your connected projects, so the AI agent can generate and edit automations for you.
- Deploy scripts to your spreadsheets, so you can push your code live with one click.
What SheetEngine cannot do
- Access files in your Google Drive that you haven't connected to SheetEngine
- Read your email, calendar, or any other Google services
- Share your files with anyone
- Make changes outside the projects you've connected
Script-level permissions
The automations deployed to your spreadsheet may need their own permissions (for example, to read spreadsheet data or send emails). Google shows a separate authorization prompt the first time you or your users run the script. These are managed by Google, not SheetEngine.
Revoking access
You can revoke SheetEngine's access at any time:
- Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Find SheetEngine in the list
- Click Remove Access
You'll need to re-authorize if you want to use SheetEngine again.
