Responsible Use Policy

Last updated: March 11, 2026

This Responsible Use Policy ("RUP") supplements the SheetEngine Terms of Service governing your use of the SheetEngine platform available at sheetengine.app ("Platform"). The RUP applies to your access and use of the Platform, Customer Data (including the prompts and instructions you provide to the Platform and the Apps Script code, HTML files, and other Generated Output created on their basis), whether within the Platform or when using Generated Output outside of it. Capitalized but undefined terms have the meanings set forth in the Terms of Service.

Prohibited Uses

You will not share with the Platform any input that, nor knowingly use the Platform to generate any output or use or make available to others any Generated Output:

  1. That in any way violates any applicable national, federal, state, local, or international law or regulation.
  2. Generating and distributing spam in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and other applicable laws.
  3. For the purpose of exploiting, harming, or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way.
  4. That contains pornographic, sexually explicit, or adult content.
  5. To generate or disseminate verifiably false, misleading, or deceptive information and/or content (including with regard to medicine, health, and science).
  6. To generate or disseminate personally identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual.
  7. To generate or disseminate information and/or content without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine-generated, where such a disclaimer is required or where a reasonable person would be misled into believing the content is human-authored.
  8. To defame, disparage, cyber-bully, or otherwise harass others, or encourage self-harm or harm to others.
  9. To impersonate or attempt to impersonate others (e.g. via deepfakes) without their consent.
  10. For fully automated decision-making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation without human review.
  11. For any use intended to discriminate against or harm individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior, personal or personality characteristics, or in a manner that is obscene, violent, hateful, racist, or discriminatory.
  12. To exploit the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical, or mental characteristics in order to materially distort their behavior in a manner that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm.
  13. For any use intended to discriminate against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories.
  14. To engage in political lobbying or campaigns to actively influence the decisions of government officials, legislators, or regulatory agencies on legislative, regulatory, or policy matters.
  15. To facilitate, promote, or publish content related to terrorist organizations, violent extremist groups, or entities designated as such by national or international authorities, or to systematically promote violence against civilians or specific groups.
  16. To offer, sell, or otherwise facilitate transactions in, or promote illegal goods and services, including but not limited to: illegal drugs and controlled substances, human trafficking, products made from endangered or protected species, illegally obtained materials, illegal sale or transfer of weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, instructions on making weapons, or illegal online casinos, gambling, sports betting, pyramid schemes, or Ponzi schemes.
  17. To engage in phishing, fraudulent schemes, scams, chain letters, or any form of web forgery designed to trick individuals into providing sensitive information such as passwords, account details, financial information, or other confidential data.
  18. To use any robot, spider, crawler, scraper, or other automatic device, program, script, or algorithm to access, acquire, copy, or monitor any portion of SheetEngine's services, data, or content, or to circumvent the navigational structure or presentation of the Platform in any way not purposely made available.
  19. To publish, post, or disseminate other people's private or personal information without their express prior consent, including but not limited to addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, identification numbers, or financial information.
  20. To create, post, or allow the creation or posting of reviews, ratings, feedback, or user-generated content in a fraudulent or deceptive manner, including paid-for fake reviews or review manipulation to artificially influence ratings or rankings.
  21. To provide medical advice or medical results interpretation, or to promote pharmaceutical or medical products and services, without having the qualifications, licenses, and permits required by applicable law.
  22. To engage in and promote regulated services and professions, and/or deliver any regulated products or services, including but not limited to legal and accounting services, investment advice, insurance, banking, and securities, without having the required qualifications, licenses, and permits.
  23. To generate or disseminate information for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration, or asylum processes — such as predicting an individual will commit fraud or a crime — based on text profiling or arbitrary causal inference from document content.
  24. To infringe, violate, or misappropriate any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other intellectual property or proprietary rights of any other person.
  25. To transmit or otherwise make available any malicious code, including any virus, worm, trojan horse, time bomb, web bug, spyware, or any other harmful computer code, library, file, or program — including via Apps Script code deployed to Google Sheets through the Platform.
  26. To circumvent the technical and other safeguards set out by SheetEngine or our third-party service providers (including Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini) meant to ensure adherence with this RUP and such providers' equivalent usage policies.
  27. In connection with any prohibited use as defined in applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 of the European Parliament and of the Council (the EU Artificial Intelligence Act).
  28. In connection with any high-risk or regulated product, service, or use-case without fully complying with the applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the EU Artificial Intelligence Act.

To the extent the Platform generates output containing any of the above, you will notify us in writing without undue delay upon becoming aware of it at compliance@sheetengine.app.

Enforcement

Enforcing this RUP — including determining whether a violation occurred and its severity — is at SheetEngine's sole and complete discretion. Failure to enforce the RUP in one instance does not constitute a waiver to enforce it in any other instance.

You will promptly cease use of any Customer Data, Input Data, or Generated Output that violates this RUP. SheetEngine has the right to remove or delete any violating Customer Data, remove violating Generated Output from the Platform, and modify the Platform to ensure compliance with this RUP and applicable law.

Actions We May Take Against Violations

Based on the "Good Samaritan" provision outlined in the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), SheetEngine may undertake voluntary investigations to identify and act against illegal content, whether through proactive or reactive measures. These may include automatic detection of illegal content and allowing individuals and law enforcement agencies to report content that allegedly violates the law and/or our terms and policies.

If you upload or generate any content that violates applicable law, this RUP, or the Terms of Service, SheetEngine may, as appropriate and necessary, with or without notice:

  • Warn you of the violation.
  • Restrict the visibility of or disable access to any infringing or violating content.
  • Suspend or terminate monetary payments and credits.
  • Suspend or terminate the provision of SheetEngine services in whole or in part.
  • Suspend or terminate your Account.

SheetEngine has the right, but not the obligation, to monitor or investigate any content and the use of the Platform at any time for compliance with this RUP and the Terms of Service. These actions may be taken against content generated by AI tools and services, even where those tools were used via the SheetEngine Platform.

As a general rule, SheetEngine will base its content moderation decisions on the specific content you have made available on the Platform, including information contained in any notices we receive. Where appropriate, we may also consider actions and statements made outside of our services in order to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all users.

Reporting and Complaint Handling

If you find any content or behavior on SheetEngine that you consider to be illegal or in violation of this RUP or our Terms of Service, please report it to compliance@sheetengine.app. Our team will review your report and take relevant action in a timely manner.

When submitting a report, please provide as much detail as possible, including direct links to the relevant content and a clear statement of why you believe SheetEngine is required to act on it. By using this reporting mechanism, you consent to submit inquiries in good faith and not misuse any reporting or appeals channel by making baseless reports or appeals.

Internal Complaint-Handling System

SheetEngine's internal complaint-handling system enables users to challenge certain moderation decisions in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. This system must not be misused.

Misuse includes, but is not limited to:

  • Submitting complaints that are manifestly unfounded, repetitive, or abusive.
  • Filing complaints in bad faith or for the purpose of harassment, intimidation, or retaliation.
  • Repeatedly re-submitting substantially identical complaints after a final decision has been issued.
  • Using the complaint mechanism to disrupt or overload moderation processes.
  • Providing false, misleading, or intentionally incomplete information in support of a complaint.

Where a user frequently submits manifestly unfounded complaints, SheetEngine may, after prior warning and in a proportionate manner, temporarily suspend that user's access to the complaint-handling system. Any such suspension will be based on objective and transparent criteria, proportionate to the nature and frequency of the misuse, limited in duration, and accompanied by a statement of reasons.

Nothing in this section limits a user's right to seek out-of-court dispute settlement or to pursue judicial remedies.
