This Privacy Policy details how SheetEngine ("SheetEngine", "us", "our" or "we") processes personal information collected through our website at sheetengine.app and our AI-powered Google Sheets automation platform (the "Website" and "Platform" respectively).
We may update this privacy policy from time to time by posting the new version on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We will notify you by email for material changes. We encourage you to check this page regularly for any other changes.
SheetEngine is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from users below this age.

What information we collect
For Website visitors:
- Information you provide voluntarily, such as your email address when you contact us or register for updates.
- Connection details such as your IP address, log and usage data, device type, and approximate location.
For Platform users:
- Your Google account email address and display name, collected via OAuth during sign-up.
- Records of your projects, the Apps Script files associated with them, and your credit balance and transaction history.
- Conversation history with the AI assistant within the platform, which may include sheet content shared with the AI to generate your automation.
We do not store the contents of your Google Sheets beyond what is necessary to generate the automation you request.
Legal basis for processing
Depending on the type of use, SheetEngine processes personal information based on the following legal bases:
- Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party.
- Processing is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.
- Processing is necessary for our legitimate interests and those of third parties.
- Processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
- Consent (with regards to marketing communications).
How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide the SheetEngine service: authenticating your account, connecting to your Google Sheet, generating and deploying Apps Script code, and processing payments.
- To respond to inquiries and provide support.
- To generate anonymized and aggregated analytics to improve the Platform.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent or illegal activity, and to enforce our policies.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- To develop and improve our products and services.
The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google API access
SheetEngine requests OAuth access to Google Sheets and Google Apps Script on your behalf in order to read your sheet's contents, including cell values, formulas, and structure, and write code to its bound script project. Sheet contents read via these APIs are transmitted to our AI service providers solely to generate the automation code you request.
You can revoke this access at any time via your Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
With whom we share information
We do not rent or sell any personal information. We may share personal information with:
- Third-party service providers engaged in operating the Platform (as described below).
- Auditors or legal advisers as required.
- Any potential purchasers of or investors in SheetEngine, subject to confidentiality obligations.
Third-party services
We engage third-party service providers to help us operate and improve the Platform. These providers may process personal information on our behalf in the following capacities:
- Cloud infrastructure and hosting
- Database and authentication services
- Payment processing
- AI and machine learning services for code generation (Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, and OpenAI GPT)
- Analytics and monitoring
Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and is contractually required to protect your information. We only share the minimum information necessary for them to perform their services. A current list of our sub-processors is available on request at compliance@sheetengine.app.
AI services
SheetEngine uses the following third-party AI services for code generation and planning: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), and OpenAI (GPT). Your chat messages and project context are sent to the active provider to generate your automation. These providers process data under their own privacy policies and terms of service.
How we protect your information
We implement commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational measures designed to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encryption and secure token management.
We store an encrypted OAuth credential on your behalf that enables uninterrupted access to your Google Sheet between sessions. You can revoke this access at any time via your Google Account settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. You should take care in deciding what information you provide to the Platform.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to enable functionality, remember your preferences, and analyze usage of the Platform and Website.
We may use Google Analytics to collect information about how you use the Platform and Website. Google Analytics collects your IP address on the date you visit, rather than your name or other identifying information.
You may disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the service may not operate properly.
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, and for such longer period as required by applicable law. Retention periods are determined by the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, and our legal obligations.
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page in the app. Alternatively, you may request deletion by emailing compliance@sheetengine.app; we will respond within 30 days. Account deletion removes your profile, projects, conversations, and stored Google tokens. Payment transaction records are retained as required by law. Code already deployed to your Google Sheet lives in your Google account and is not affected by account deletion.
International transfer
Because SheetEngine operates globally, it may be necessary to transfer personal data to countries other than where it was collected. Where we transfer personal data outside of the EEA or UK, we do so under Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, or where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
- Object to or restrict the processing of your personal information.
- Request a portable copy of your personal information.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at compliance@sheetengine.app. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity when handling your request.
Please note that these rights are not absolute and may be subject to our own legitimate interests and regulatory requirements.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the applicable data protection authority.
